John started his career in the tree industry from the ground up, working for two small businesses starting as a "groundie" and working his way up the tree until he found his niche specializing in large hazardous tree removals, which is his favorite type of work.
After gaining valuable experience working for two small businesses out of Duvall, Washington, he worked for 3 years for a nationwide company as a lead climber, leading crews of 10 people or more and working with cranes, bucket trucks, and continued honing his skills in leadership and technical tree climbing. He has experience working in a variety of places and spaces, from tight spaces with narrow drop zones in Seattle to open acreage in Smokey Point up near Stanwood.
John is actively involved in the ISA and is dedicated to continuing his education in the tree care industry, particularly in safety practices, tree health, aerial rescue, and the latest climbing technology. He is easily recognizable because he is the longest and leanest climber you will ever see!
John is a father of two and his wife, Chelsea, is a high school English teacher. They live in Monroe with their two Heelers named Rip and Heart, and their Maine Coon cat named Gronk.
